Luna Shell
Panel, launcher, OSD, notifications, lock screen, keyring and the polkit agent. The shell that binds the environment together. Package luna.
Desktop programs
Luna is more than a panel and a compositor. It also ships the programs you use every day: files, media, terminal, store, settings, clock and calendar. All of them draw with libLuna and speak standard Wayland — no GTK, no Qt, no VTE.
Each application is a separate package and a separate repository. You can install only what you need — or take the whole desktop with the luna-desktop metapackage.
Panel, launcher, OSD, notifications, lock screen, keyring and the polkit agent. The shell that binds the environment together. Package luna.
Appearance and accents, login screen, network, sound, input, accounts and workspaces. System services over D-Bus and CLI. Package luna-settings.
File manager: navigation, XDG trash, devices through UDisks2, background operations and thumbnails. Package luna-files.
Images, RAW files, videos and PDFs in one window. Decoding via ffmpeg, Poppler, Ghostscript and LibRaw. Package luna-media.
A VT100/xterm emulator on PTY — no VTE, no GTK. Monospace font, colors, selection and copy. Package luna-terminal.
Software and update store: pag, apt, dnf, pacman and Flatpak backends, authorized through polkit. Package luna-store.
Local and world clock, multiple time zones, timer and stopwatch, plus a private calendar with events, offline holidays and .ics files. Package luna-clock.
A 10-band graphic equalizer as a LADSPA plugin for PipeWire. The shell loads it from /usr/lib/luna/libluna-eq.so. Package luna-eq.
Login screen for greetd: local accounts, Wayland/X11 sessions, AccountsService avatars and a theme consistent with the rest of Luna. Package luna-greeter.
The libLuna widget gallery and documentation: live examples, usage code and HeaderBar variants. Package luna-demo.
Clock, timer, stopwatch, time zones and a private calendar. The panel shows event and holiday dots, and closing the app with a running timer leaves a widget below the bar.
Read more →Luna programs now live in separate GitHub repositories. PaganOS recipes build each package from its own source, and the luna-desktop metapackage installs the whole set.
The greetd frontend now has a dedicated repo: source, session script, greetd config example, default wallpaper and documentation in one place.
Read more →On PaganOS the metapackage installs the whole environment. Individual programs can be added or skipped by installing them by name.
